Pizza Spots
UNA PIZZA + WINE
Una has been a Calgary date night staple for over 10 years now and for good reason. This spot has a fun atmosphere, great food, and a prime patio for summertime people watching.
WITHOUT PAPERS
Tucked upstairs in one Inglewood’s many historic buildings, this hip pizza spot is always buzzing with activity. Wood oven baked pizzas, a selection of local beers, and ice cream made fresh, in house daily, make this cheekily named restaurant a must try.
ANNABELLE’S KITCHEN
Annabelle’s Kitchen is Marda Loop’s best Italian spot, hands down. The Aperol spritz is always flowing and the casual atmosphere is the perfect setting to enjoy a fantastic meal with friends or family.
POSTO PIZZERIA & BAR
Posto isn’t your average pizza spot. Pop by this cozy spot any night of the week to discover their unconventional pizzas featuring an amazing crust and creative topping combinations or explore the interesting selection of happy hour specials rotating on the menu. No matter your tastes, Posto won’t disappoint.
PIZZA MERCATO
Mercato has a long-standing name in Calgary, and for good reason. Their pizza is as consistently delicious as the bistecca is in their standing restaurant
(for my fellow Mercato aficionados). This spot is the perfect place for any pizza traditionalist with classic Italian flare and no funny business.
SOPHIE’S PIZZA
Looking for a classic thick crust pizza that reminds you of your childhood? Sophie’s has your back. They offer simple pizzas with zesty tomato sauce and a plethora of toppings. Just like your mama used to order.
CONNIE AND JOHN’S PIZZA
Connie Desousa and John Jackson are a force to be reckoned with in the Calgary food scene and their eponymous pizza restaurant is no exception. Inspired by New York’s famously diverse (and delicious) pizza culture, this takeaway gem offers a choose your own adventure with either a New York City or Detroit-style pizza. New York pizzas are 16” of foldable, golden-crusted dough, baked to cheesy perfection in a specialized 500°F pizza oven. Detroit is the doughier cousin with a square, deep-dish crust and golden edges crispy with cheese. Bubbly and delicious, you can’t go wrong with this true comfort food. This shop is only offering takeaway at the moment but stay tuned for future delivery options.
POW PIZZA
Great pies run in the family for Pow Pizza, the sister shop of Without Papers. Delightfully doughy, Detroit-style deep dish pizzas rule the menu here with focaccia style crusts and cheesy, crunchy edges. Pow Pizza is all about mastering the one thing they do best, so you can only get pizza here, but it’ll be one of the best pizzas you’ve had.
NOBLE PIE PIZZA
Noble Pie Pizza is a tasty and exclusive, pizza shop hidden upstairs in the Eighty Eighty Brewery. This pizza joint proves size isn’t everything with a small menu of five pizza options to choose from (no ingredient substitutions available either), and a limit of 75 pizzas made daily. Each pizza crust is made from simple ingredients, long-fermented and hand-stretched. The result is a delicious crust that is crisp, airy and easy to digest. Just be sure to order in advance to get one before they’re gone.
