Creamy, inventive and always rotating, with sweet-and-savoury flavours you won't find anywhere else. Six Calgary shops: 17th Avenue, Bridgeland, West Hillhurst, Greenwich, Willow Park and a summer walk-up in Inglewood. In Bridgeland it shares a door with Lil' Empire, so burgers and a cone is one stop.
Must try: Molten Chocolate Honeycomb, Goat Milk Caramel, anything seasonal, with the toasted marshmallow topping.
Erin's tip: Made by Marcus sundaes are the most Instagrammable sundaes in Calgary.
A Calgary original with a sweet patio on a quiet street, homemade waffle cones and a vegan lineup that holds its own. Also in Bridgeland, Britannia, Garrison Corner in Marda Loop, University District and the new West District shop at 780 78 St SW, steps from Radio Park. Allergy-aware staff will use a clean scoop.
After years of markets and online orders, Hank's has a shop of its own on 9th Avenue, done up like a little Paris street. Everything is made from scratch with organic eggs, milk and cane sugar, and they do custom ice cream cakes. Closed Mondays.
Must try: Banana Walnut Brittle, Lavender Earl Grey.
Hands down the best soft serve in the city, poured at the counter inside Lukes Drug Mart in Bridgeland and Killarney. The house Milk+ is made with sweetened condensed milk and vanilla, and there's a new feature flavour every month, often made with another Calgary business.
