The big one. Produce, butchers, bakers and enough lunch counters to make a Saturday of it. Yum Bakery's bread alone is worth the parking lot.

Calgary's growing season is short, so we make the most of it. Three farmers' markets run year round and a few more show up when the patios open. Then there are the food halls, for the nights when nobody can agree on dinner. One roof, a dozen counters, everyone wins.

The northwest finally got its own. Same calibre of vendors as South, with a Wednesday start for anyone who hates weekend crowds. Chunk'd has a stall here now.

The old-school option, and the one with the most character. Pies from Simple Simon, a plant stall selling Venus flytraps, and vendors people have bought from for decades. Some take only cash, some only cards, so bring both.

Worth the drive southwest. Go early, buy too much, and take the long way home through the foothills.
Roy's Korean Kitchen is back here, alongside Birdie's hot honey chicken, Takori, Greenfish, Oishidesu and Modern Burger. Bar Chouette is in the same building when you want to sit down, and 33 Acres' fire-pit patio is right behind it.

The market you knew as Avenida, under a new name. Groceries and hot food under one roof, and a good excuse for a deep-south weekend run.
